This Club was organized to promote the interests and education of gardeners and to promote sustainable gardening practices, assist in ensuring food security for seniors, encouraging a love of nature and outdoors and provide comradery to gardeners in Garden Centers 1 & 2 and others in Laguna Woods Village with same interests.
Club activities will provide a forum for gardeners to meet, socialize, discuss problems and help each other improve gardening skills. Membership is open to all LWV residents who share the Club’s purpose and choose to participate in Club activities. We also have opportunities for Volunteers to assist with Special Projects around the Garden Centers. We currently meet 6 times a year and invite speakers such as UCCE Master Gardeners of
Orange County to come and speak on many different gardening subjects. The meetings are breakfast, lunch or dinner and are potlucks so members can share their favorite recipes. We also have a plant raffle every meeting.
Mid July we hold a Farmers Market and invite the residents of Laguna Woods to shop and purchase our garden grown produce that is donated by the gardeners and all proceeds are donated to the Florence Sylvester Senior Center Meals on Wheels Program to benefit the residents of Laguna Woods. In addition we have day trips and special functions. Our Happy Hour Wine & Cheese Parties throughout the summer months are a great time to get to know each other and socialize. We end the year with a Holiday Party with local entertainment.
